Bonne Fête

August 15! That's the Feast of the Assumption if you're Catholic, and Independence Day if you're Korean. Korea is 13 hours ahead of DC time... did Lee Myung Bak mention the US's role in Korean independence?

Good question.

Years ago, I was on a business trip to Belgium. The trip ran from Monday to Friday, and the Feast of the Assumption fell right in the middle of the week... which meant that I had the day off to ramble around Ghent and Bruges and look at the old cathedrals.

As for me, I celebrate the Feast of the Presumptuous Assumption.

Also worth noting: 8/15 is also India's Independence Day.

I only happen to know this first hand, as I'm *ahem* Indian "by injection."
