Friday night's walk

Below is a MapMyWalk representation of exactly half of the walk I did Friday night. Multiply everything by 2 for the full walk stats:

Total distance walked: 9.56 km
Total duration: 2:14:00
Average pace (remains the same): 13:58 per km, or about 4.3 kph—not bad!
Total steps: 13,714
Total calories burned: 874

If I'm eating over my 800-calorie limit, as I know I am, these walks help me burn off extra calories. To provide a sense of scale: a 1600-calorie meal would be about 2 foot-long Subway sandwiches. The walk would burn away about half of that, putting me at the 800-calorie limit.

I'm starting to get a "rhythm" for my chest pains, too: when I start walking, my first chest pains hit me at around the ten-minute mark, at which point I stop at the nearest bench, sit down, and rest for ten minutes before continuing. Friday night, I was able to walk to the turnaround point, then walk another 30-some minutes before I had to sit down again. Assuming these walks help to strengthen my heart, I hope to have fewer and fewer rest breaks as I progress. We'll see how it goes.
