Google is still celebrating my birthday with little, animated party balloons and ticker tape floating and flitting past my profile image. I hope this stops later today.
In other news, I got a rare email from my brother Sean, who just got back from a sweltering vacation trip down to Medellín and Cartagena, former drug capitals of Colombia: "I’ve never been to a place hotter than this. The humidity is insane!" Colombia: another hot, humid place I won't be visiting anytime soon. Add it to the list along with the Philippines and India.
My #3 Ajumma sent me a birthday text yesterday; she's leaving today for Germany to see her younger son, who lives there.
Yesterday was quiet. I'd thought about celebrating with a couple nasty slices of delicious, sugar-saturated rum cake, but I realized I just didn't have the energy to make the cake, and that if I were going to have it on the 31st, I should've started making it on the 30th to give the cake time to cool and settle. Maybe I'll dessert myself to death after my end-of-September doctor's appointment. Cake or death? as Eddie Izzard famously asked. For me, these days, cake and death come together as a two-fer package.
Today's the start of my new blogging paradigm: no more politics or current events, no more useless ranting and memes. Things are going to look up for my left-liberal readers, and they're going to get boring for my rightie, attention-span-deprived readers. The bots that have infested this site will likely all flee. Here's hoping things become simpler and purer.
Well, it is what it is, bots and readers or not. People are free, as always, to visit or skip.

"my rightie, attention-span-deprived readers."
ReplyDeleteUm, are you talking about me, or are all your rightie readers afflicted with attention deficit disorder?
The dog whistle worked.
