Thanks for sharing this. I admit to having more interest in the Ripper case than I probably should. I wouldn't say it is at the level of a middle-aged white woman and true crime tv shows and podcasts, but I've read a few books on the subject, own a book on the murders, and have watched more than a few shows on the Ripper. I heard a little about the DNA test results when they were released. I recall at the time discounting them as being wholly unreliable for all of the reasons stated in this video. They are interesting, but not conclusive of anything. All that being said, I do think that Kosminski is the likeliest killer. I think there is some evidence that it could also be Montague Druitt. (But as I recall there is some exculpatory evidence for Druitt that may have made it impossible to do one of the killings - I'd have to google that or check a book.) At this point we'll never know. It is just one of those mysteries of history that will be good for an occasional book, special, or YouTube video.
ReplyDeleteFor what it is worth, I think the "Dear Boss" letter is probably a red herring written by a crazy person seeking some publicity. It has been given weight as being written by the killer because of the ear bit (and a few others lines). But that seems to me to be coincidence more than confession.
