side effect

You know you're getting old when the back problems arise more frequently. My lower back has been killing me since I canceled the walk a couple days ago. I now shamble around my apartment like a bent-over 90-year-old codger; it's a sight to see.

My body normally suffers all over when I do one of these distance walks, although backaches usually aren't a problem. Technically, if I were still walking to Yangpyeong, I'd probably continue the walk because my basic ability to put one foot in front of the other hasn't been compromised. But my feet are also killing me, and I take that as a warning sign to lay off.

Like Michael Jackson, I'm gonna need my painkillers.
