ode to hunger

upon the table sat a treasure craved
two Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, and thus
he fell upon the first, a beast depraved
and gobbled it, unthinking, ravenous

but such was his delight at eating one
it pained him that if he should eat the next
the joy would be too brief and lacking fun
and so he sat and pondered, deeply vexed

he sat and sat, an indecisive mess
and starved away, done in by fecklessness

The idea for the poem came to me a few days ago, but putting it into words was another matter. From concept to execution.
