flat on my back

The food I took to the office on Monday was heavy, and the strain caught up with me last night. My back suffered a severe spasm, enough to make me almost unable to move. I spent a few hours in pain, and whenever I had to walk around so I could go to the bathroom or whatever, I shuffled about like a 95-year-old. This morning, the pain had lessened, but I simply had no desire to go to work, so I texted my boss to call in sick.

I've basically been in bed all day. All my painkillers are at the office, but since I'm now feeling a little better, I'll go to work tomorrow and stop by my favorite pharmacy (the pharmacist there likes me) to ask for more ibuprofen.

If I needed proof I'm no longer a young man, well, I guess I have it. That said, I'll do some lower-back stretches and be ready for work tomorrow.

  1. Yikes! Glad it wasn't worse, but still scary to imagine being incapacitated like that long term. Wishing you a full and speedy recovery!
