David Brooks is a Never Trump idiot, but he apparently had a temporary and partial moment of clarity that prompted him to write an article titled, "What If We're the Bad Guys Here?" Video commentary has of course ensued:
David Brooks self-identifies as a conservative, but he's a leftist shill who writes for the New York Times. This article that righties are talking about still concludes that Donald Trump is guilty and deserves what's coming to him: Brooks must hew to the leftist narrative if he's to keep his sinecure post at the Times, after all. His second-to-last paragraph:
Are Trump supporters right that the indictments are just a political witch hunt? Of course not. As a card-carrying member of my class, I still basically trust the legal system and the neutral arbiters of justice. Trump is a monster in the way we’ve all been saying for years and deserves to go to prison.
So despite Brooks's seemingly increasing self-awareness about the badness of "his side" (and "We" in the title of the article tells you he counts himself among the left), he's still nothing more than a swamp creature, fit for killing and skinning.
Yeah, Brooks is a loser and fake conservative. When I saw mention of the article, I just shrugged it off as more pretend self-awareness. The paragraph you quoted seems to confirm that.
