1. to order or otherwise tell someone to do something2. (legal) to forbid, proscribe, or restrain someone from doing something
I think the legal definition is where we get the term injunction.
• Vader enjoined his son to help overthrow the emperor.• The judge enjoined Steve from ever coming within 500 feet of kids under 15.
