Dave Cullen on the end of "Strange New Worlds"

"Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" will be done after five seasons. I watched only Season 1, but from what I heard, the show went rapidly downhill from there, a victim of the agenda-driven Message that The Critical Drinker has referred to. Dave Cullen nevertheless thinks that "Strange New Worlds" is a better, easier watch than the über-woke "Discovery," with its girl-boss retconning and constant, estrogen-drenched weepiness. From Season 1 of "Strange New Worlds," there were characters and situations that I enjoyed: I liked Dr. M'Benga (Babs Olusanmokun) very much, and I found myself rooting for the Spock-and-Christine-Chapel love subplot (what did that evolve into?). And who can argue with actor Anson Mount's eternal, unkillable hair? (Mount plays Captain Christopher Pike.) There was, at least initially, a lot to like. But all good things come to an end.
