Fiery, but mostly peaceful. Why would anyone still live there? How stupid do you have to be? And if you have the nerve to defend such cities while you yourself live in a safe place, far from danger, explain why you don't move to a paradise like Los Angeles. The longer I live in South Korea, the more I realize coming here was the right choice in terms of safety.* Safety wasn't my original reason for coming to Korea, but more and more, the decision to move here is looking like the right one. Of course, nothing is forever, and when political correctness sinks in deeply enough, Korea will find itself saddled with the same unintegrated/unassimilated migrant problem found in other prosperous countries.

*Back in the 90s, at the now-defunct Campus Foreign Language Institute, I used to work with other foreigners, including two Americans who claimed to be with military intelligence; they were at the hagweon as a side job, and they sported military haircuts. One of them came in with his face all bandaged up one day; he said he'd been jumped by a group of Koreans—hit in the back of the head from behind by some coward, then beaten up by the group when he went to the ground. That's the only incident I've ever personally, directly heard of regarding expats being attacked by Koreans. I think it's safe to say that such incidents are exceedingly rare here, and it's one reason why I feel safe enough to do 33K all-night walks. More recently, Johnny Somali was attacked by a Korean, a former Navy SEAL, but the case could be made that that attack wasn't unprovoked given Somali's obnoxious, insulting behavior. The SEAL was arrested for the attack against Somali, and donations poured in from citizens interested in paying the man's legal fees for physically expressing what the rest of the country has been feeling about Somali's obnoxious behavior on the peninsula. Personally, I don't blame the SEAL at all for his attack, and I hope Somali—when all is said and done—goes away for a long, long time in a Korean prison.
