9 a.m. came and went today, and yesterday's numbers ended up at 79,484 unique visits. That's still crazy, but it's a lot less than before, so we may finally be seeing a return to common sense. That said, we're only six hours into the new 24-hour period, and I already have 19,277 visits, so the insanity might not be over yet. This is no longer about feeling bizarrely happy with my faux numbers: this whole affair has turned full-on creepy, as if my site were being swarmed by a colony of angry fire ants. Is there an app out there that blocks bot invasions? Whoa: that's a whole, rich topic unto itself. I'll see what I can do after doing some research.
