I kinda wanna stop here, but...

My movie-review book's manuscript is now over 400 pages long, and that's just covering the years from 2004 to 2015. I still have another fifteen entries for 2015, so I guess the page count for the main part of the manuscript will be close to 450 or 500 pages, not including the preface, the bio/afterword, the front matter, and the table of contents.

I'm reckoning page numbers by a 6" × 9" format (the dead-tree, print-on-demand Amazon format I've chosen for the non-electronic version), with 3/4-inch margins. Page count doesn't matter as much for ebooks, though, when you're formatting your ms for Kindle because every Kindle owner can change things like font size and zoom level, which in turn adjusts the number of pages you scroll past. When you're trying to figure out how far you are in a book, it's better to look at stats like "minutes left in chapter" (Kindle roughly calculates your reading speed) and "percent read." There's also a progress bar when you tap the book's page, and that can give you a good visual idea of how far along in the book you are.

For all that, I'm glad to be near the end. Once the ebook version is published (I still don't have a good title), I'll start working on the dead-tree version of the book. And once that's on sale, I'll have at least three more volumes to go. Eventually, I'm going to have to move my ongoing movie reviews over to Substack since writing so much material for no money (what I've been doing for years) is no longer a comfortable proposition. More soon.
