Today is the 7th of July, and according to the latest weather report, we've got no rain until the 16th, nine days from today. That might change, of course, but it's better news than the news coming out of China, where relentless precipitation has caused massive flooding, and even the Three Gorges Dam appears to be threatened. If that thing ever collapses, the damage is sure to ruin millions of lives and put a massive dent in China's already sick economy.
I, meanwhile, have a few things I need to do today:
- renew my Costco-membership card (expires every June)
- get a haircut (later this afternoon or early evening)
- hit the bank and transfer $1000 to my US account to pay some debts
Those are the obligations taking me out of my studio. Otherwise, I've been practicing being miserly with my air conditioner. Last month's bill was surprisingly low (barely over W200,000), but with July and August now upon me, I expect my bill to double. I'm not looking forward to that. But heat is heat, and humidity is humidity. That's the reality, and in the summer swelter, a man has needs. We'll see how well I do over the next two months.
Doctor's appointment this coming Wednesday. No text message from the hospital yet re: whether I need to give a blood sample. Because Murphy's Law defines my life, I'm banking on yes, the hospital will need a blood sample. Gotta keep the vampires happy.
