Back in grad school, one of my classmates was going for his PhD. Really nice guy named Mark. Mark had a cute wife who looked a lot like the woman on the right (but cuter... and really athletic). I have no idea why, but she and I would eat lunch with Mark at the Catholic U. campus cafeteria and get flirty. Mark was too nice of a guy to say anything, and I was too much of a gentleman/pussy to make any real moves on his wife, so as naughty relationships go, this was a non-relationship. But it was fun. Hell, I even flirted with her when she was hugely pregnant, joking that her stomach, with the popped-out belly button, had turned into a gigantic tit with an enormous nipple. Mark took it all in stride, probably confident that he could beat the snot out of me if I ever got any friskier. (God, I hope he never finds this.) I graduated with a Master's (Religion and Culture) in 2002. I wonder how his kids are doing. Seeing as he's Catholic (ex-fundamentalist), I assume he's got way more than one by now. Mark also introduced me to Robert Duvall's incredible film "The Apostle," which I don't think I've ever reviewed here. "The Apostle" depicts the sort of charismatic Christianity that Mark had gotten away from. Now, there's something I need to do before I die: write that review. |
