Here in Seoul, the new, harsher vaccine-pass measures kicked in as of today (there's a lawsuit going on, right now, to get the measures recalled). My assumption has been that I will no longer be able to enter stores like SSG Food Mart, eMart, and Costco because these are major chains, but it occurs to me that I ought to test that assumption first before declaring defeat. So maybe this weekend, I'll go around and see whether I, as an un-vaxxed person, an untouchable, a dalit, can still get into these places. As for restaurants, which are also subject to this policy, I assume there'll be signs in their windows affirming that you need a vaccine pass. But maybe I should check restaurants, too. I'm supposed to meet my buddy Charles later this month, but I'm starting to wonder where we might be able to go and eat (Charles is vaxxed, so I'm the problem). Ah, the inconvenience of standing on principles.

You can eat (albeit alone) in restaurants with no problems, but those big box retailers won't let you in without a negative PCR test. Totally ridiculous, me thinks.
ReplyDeleteRestaurants might be a problem. I've seen groups turned away if one of the members isn't vaxxed. I haven't heard of needing a negative PCR test to get into a big box retailer, though. That does sound like things are getting out of hand.
ReplyDeleteThe plan originally was to invite you to eat at our place, but currently we don't really have enough chairs for guests. Which sounds like a silly position to be in, but there you have it. Hopefully that situation will be rectified at some point, but there are still a bunch of things we need to get.
Charles,
ReplyDeleteI'm happy eating on the floor if it comes to that. Am actually glad to hear you'd thought of us eating at your place instead of at a restaurant. You guys are, of course, welcome to dine at my place if you want. Either way, your place or mine, I think I'll make a nice, fattening bread pudding to serve us all. (And you guys can keep whatever we don't gobble.)
I'll take this convo to email. Look for something in your inbox soon.
