Someone on YouTube went to the trouble of finding and cleaning up the original 1977 footage of the Battle of Yavin from the first "Star Wars" (back even before the subtitle "A New Hope" got tacked on). Just rewatched it, then looked at the comments. A lot of people my age recall being in the theaters in 1977 and witnessing a standing ovation as the Death Star blew up. I vaguely recall something similar at at least one of my viewings ("Star Wars" was a movie I saw four times in the theaters). It was definitely an experience—one not likely to be repeated.
