wouldn't it be nice if Trump were more like this?

You don't have to agree with everything said in young Katie Britt's election-victory speech below (Britt is a new US senator for Alabama), but listen to the speech and note her focus: save for the very beginning, when she talks about her achievements and new responsibilities, she focuses on pretty much everyone except herself. If Donald Trump kept his policies and priorities but showed himself to be a much humbler, more other-oriented person, I'd like him a hell of a lot more. As things stand, I like his policies, and I like his priorities. I don't like the man himself because he always makes everything about him. Because I'm able to separate Trump's personality from his politics, I'm still able to vote for him. But it really would be nice if he were less of an egocentric asshole. Watch Katie Britt and see how a human being is supposed to act: humbly, compassionately, graciously.

I hope politics doesn't turn her into a monster.

  1. Nailed it. That is exactly how I feel about Trump. Good on policy, crap as a person.

I hadn't heard much about Britt before, and I couldn't help noticing that she's pretty hot for a Senator. Oops, that sounds like something Trump would say...

  2. She's bright and cute, and I hope she learns to wield that charm like a weapon as part of her job in the Senate.
