I'm not really surprised by this: the idea that you can't be objective is a cherished notion in postmodernism, the thought-system that refuses "totalizing metanarratives" (grand, universal explanations for Why Things Are) and objectivity to embrace a radical form of subjectivity: everything is contextualized, and no god's-eye objective, "privileged" perspectives are possible (this is, ironically, a totalizing metanarrative itself). But it appears that journalism has reached a point where it now loudly affirms this idea: objectivity is flat-out bad and must be rejected for its oppressiveness. This is in total consonance with the postmodernist project and is just as misguided, but listen to Chris Chappell:
