I was blown away to see how much traffic this blog, with its scheduled posts, was getting in my absence. I had one day with over 10,000 18,000 visitors; my expectation was merely to have about 600-700 unique visits daily. Anyway, if you've been following my walk this year, you know that, for the first time, I've failed because of injury and have come back to my place. But the injury is minor enough that I'll continue the rest of the walk on weekends until early December, doing 1-2-day treks until I've done all the segments. But I need about two weeks' rest and recuperation first. I can't count this way of finishing as a "W," but I'm determined not to end with a total "L," not after all the shit I've been through this year.*
There are posts scheduled through the morning of November 6, which will be the evening of November 5 in the States—Election Day, when the US picks the Asshole Who Knows Economics and the Border or the Retard Who Knows Nothing. I'll add original content between now and the 6th, but for the most part, I may as well sit back and let the auto-pilot run its course. The blog seems to do better without my even being here. October is already a banner month at over 100,000 visits.

*Conversely, the shit brought out the good in a lot of other people, including my brothers and my friends, who all visited, contributing time and food and humor and companionship. That means a hell of a lot more than money.
Welcome back! Nothing ventured, nothing gained. And nothing to be ashamed of for making the effort. It's been a hell of a year for you, and here you are, still standing. Well done!
ReplyDeleteYou didn't fail. You just postponed victory.
