When I was growing up, soft drinks came in glass bottles. You paid a three-cent deposit on each one, which was refunded when you returned the empty bottle. I recall many times we'd walk the neighborhood streets picking up discarded empties so we'd have some pocket money. Gas was twenty-five cents a gallon, and for a buck, we could cruise all night in my pal's '56 Pontiac. Those were the good ol' days!
