I've long contended that Trump, given his priorities, is basically an unreconstructed 90s Democrat. "America First," pro-worker attitude, anti-globalism, anti-war... the list of 90s-Dem priorities goes on. Below is a Liberal Hivemind video that confirms my contention while also noting how today's insane Democrats, purely out of Trump-hatred, are self-immolating:

I repeatedly tell whiners, “Trump’s platform/positions/speeches are 99.9% identical to Bill Clinton’s. And Trump was friendly with Bill back in the day.”

I'm glad you understand. I did a search on the phrase "90s Democrat" on my blog. Turns out I've written a lot about this phenomenon over the years.
DeleteNeverTrumpers, neocons, GOPe people—whatever name they go by, they're basically the people who had one specific vision of conservatism in their heads, and they see Trump as essentially violating that conception, hence their hatred of him.
What's amusing is seeing how the MAGA Republicans/conservatives almost never talk about how much of a 90s Democrat Trump still is. It's an interesting elision or lacuna. I've seen some brave souls on Instapundit making this same point in the comments, but they rarely get much support from the other commenters except for a few quiet likes. And Trump has, of course, adopted some rightie language/concepts on his own, but from what I see, he's still essentially a Democrat regarding his larger priorities, and his status as a "former" Democrat makes it more understandable as to why he's nominated so many other former Democrats (Tulsi, RFK, et al.) to various cabinet positions. The Democrats basically did this to themselves.
Spot on! I was a solid Dem voter throughout the 90s (9/11 woke me), but I didn't become some radical rightie (or Nazi) when I changed my outlook. In fact, it was the Dems who abandoned the middle ground. They are now reaping what they've sown.
