Yep, it is insane. I understand we have essential government services that must be funded, like our national defense. I don't know the best way to go about that, but I'd vote for an across-the-board flat tax rate, that everyone must pay without exemption. 10% seems fair. Make a thousand, pay a hundred. Make a million, pay a hundred thousand. Of course, the states are going to want a cut, too. Anyway, someone smarter than me should be able to figure something out that is better than our current unfair system.
