My buddy Mike cautions that we should be careful about confusing correlation and causation. It's a valid concern. But Occam's Razor seems to be slicing pretty clearly in one direction.
The article from which I plucked the tweet (see link above) snarkily remarked: "Anyway, good luck with your new windmills, Spain. Don Quixote would be proud." It wouldn't surprise me to learn that windmills were part of the problem. And frankly, I don't trust the Spanish government to investigate its own policies and end up blaming this "green" infrastructure. I've written a lot about how I started off fairly neutral about wind power, then turned actively against it after walking past so many windmills on Jeju Island. Those things are an eyesore and an environmental nightmare.
