Lord, that punchable mouth. Will there be cheering in South Korea when this trial is finally over (next year or the year after), and Johnny Somali goes to prison for 20 years? If he was genuinely insane, are we cheering for the incarceration of an insane person who couldn't help himself? Well, I for one have never been partial to the insanity defense. If a dumb motherfucker charges me with a sword while I have a gun, I'm going to try my best to shoot him full of holes to stop the threat. I'm not going to take the social-worker approach of trying to soothe him through compassionate speech. I'd put him down the way I'd put down a tiger or a bear that charged me. By the same token, Johnny Somali really needs to be put down, and if the civilized solution is, in the end, to incarcerate him, then by all means, Korea, do it.
