I've never been much of a steak guy myself; I'd much rather have the shawarma.
Some Westerners, like Vikings, love their huge, inelegant hunks of meat. Maybe it's an East Asian bias, but I prefer my land proteins thinly sliced or shredded or pulled. More manageable that way, and I don't have to saw into a huge hunk of muscle that just tastes like more of the same, more of the same. Give me some variety in terms of texture and temperature, and for God's sakes, get that huge, wasteful chunk of fat outta my face (lookin' at you, ribeye). Of course, Asians (like the rest of the world) love their fatty cuts of meat, and fat has its place when it's fried up, as with bacon. Still: I'm not a fan of huge bits of fat, either. Maybe that's just particular to me and not to my East Asian heritage.
