I've only ever visited Cracker Barrel maybe two or three times. I found the food to be mediocre, and I completely ignored the trinket store both times that I went. If there are people out there who see the store/restaurant as a comforting reminder of something-something, then God bless 'em. They can have their establishment. I have no interest in it. I can see how the change in logo this time might be problematic, but in the video below, Paul Chato, a former graphic designer among other things, discusses the logo's history and points out right away that the current change is only the most recent in a series of changes over the years. He also points out that Cracker Barrel's drop in quality—which many on the right associate with COVID—precedes the arrival of its current CEO, Julie Felss Masino. For me, as a fairly disinterested party, I think what's worse than the logo change is the apparent attempt to make Cracker Barrel look more generically cafeteria-like. That was one aspect of the old restaurant that I didn't mind: the comfy-looking interior design. If nothing else, the old Cracker Barrel had ambiance. Really, though—are the new changes on the order of the politically correct rebranding of names like Bud Light and Jaguar? I don't think so. I'd focus more on the new, colder, less welcoming interior design. (I hear the latest news is that Cracker Barrel will go back to the old logo. This sounds like a sop to the complainers while the store/resto keeps the rest of its more significant changes.)
