moved away

My mysterious next-door neighbor has moved away. I heard a ton of noise coming from next door for a few hours today. My neighbor is (was) normally a quiet guy, so I guessed something was up. When things had finally quieted down, I took a peek out my front door... and all the stickers and messages taped on my neighbor's door had been peeled off. Clean slate, new start. There are people in his apartment right now; I hear them clattering around, probably cleaning. I assume this is the same crew that will eventually take care of my apartment, freshening it up for the next victim after I'm gone. If there's one great truth about life, it's that it goes on. We're imprints in the sand on the beach: the waves keep lapping; the imprints fade, and the waves keep on a-comin'.

In other news: caffeine is a vasoconstrictor. For a guy with clogged arteries, that's A Bad Thing. You don't want your arteries constricting when they're already blocked. That's a recipe for a heart attack while you're walking. So—no more Cherry Coke Zero (which Coupang is out of stock of, anyway), and hello to Chilsung Cider Zero.

In other news: I'll be finishing up the walk-blog-related stuff in a few hours. I'm also behind with making Substack material, so I'll try to finish up at least one unit of that tonight. I also have to sit down with my piles of chaotic paperwork and organize them into my organizers. And while I had planned to take a walk today, it was rainy earlier, and the National Weather Service is saying there'll be light rain tonight, so I've postponed a Saturday walk until tomorrow, when the website says everything ought to be clear. I'm normally not a rain wimp, but after last year's injury, which was caused partly by nasty rains, I've become a bit paranoid about tramping about in any sort of socks. Generally, cotton socks are considered the worst for distance walking, but I wasn't wearing cotton socks when I got injured last year.

Also: the review of BSG continues apace, but it won't be ready for a while, I think, not as long as I have these other priorities staring me in the face. I might actually have a (much shorter) two-fer review coming up soon for two Amazon shows out right now: "The Terminal List: Dark Wolf" (a brief prequel series) and "Gen V," Season 2. I don't know whether to praise or damn Amazon for hosting two such ideologically opposite shows. And one final thing:

a real keto meal for once

That's tuna with mayo (and pepper plus chili flakes) flanked by mat-kimchi and ssam-mu (huge Korean turnip, lightly pickled). Not great, but also not bad, and very likely to be something like what I eat during the upcoming walk. Especially the tuna part.

Blood sugar was 94 this morning. Under 100 is always good. I expect my meal will shoot that up for tomorrow's reading.
