all-compassionate boss

I had come into work an hour earlier than usual yesterday, but today, I was nearly an hour late, so I guess it all averages out. I have no real excuse for being late today: I didn't get to sleep until after 6 a.m., so I woke up late despite setting my phone alarm for an earlier hour. As a result, I felt guilty when the boss told us he's letting us have tomorrow off—a five-day weekend instead of the mandated four-day weekend. I might still come into work, anyway, since I now have stuff to do again, and since I need to rack up some comp hours for my upcoming vacation. (I need 64 hours; I currently have only 8.)

What am I going to do with myself over the long weekend? No idea. I've got it in my head to do a night hike from Yangpyeong to Yeosu—sort of a long-distance practice run for Jeju (one of several such runs before I depart). Maybe I'll do more than one long hike over the break. An easy route to do would be a 36K hike out to Bundang and back. Since I'm doubling up some routes in Jeju, I'll be doing a few over-30K treks during my time there.

Maybe I should train down to Daegu and do some beetle-hunting. Down in that part of the peninsula, there are these huge-ass beetles, each rivaling the size of one of those half-sized Coke cans. I should capture one and bring it back with me to Seoul.

Tonight or tomorrow, I might have a better idea as to what I'm going to do over Chuseok break. Meanwhile, all praise and honor to the boss for giving us an extra day off!
