esse non videri

My high school's Latin motto was Esse non videri: Being, not seeming. Why seem good when you can be good? Why seem a hero when you can be one? Be authentic.

That motto falls on deaf ears for superficial people who can use an app that makes them look famous by employing AI to simulate livestreaming. Go to a party, hold out your phone, and show people that you're currently streaming your outing—that thousands or even millions are following you at that very moment. It's all bullshit, of course: the entire chicane is being generated via AI. You don't actually have thousands hanging on to your every action and commenting; you're not really livestreaming what you're doing. But people who see the artifice playing out on your phone will be wowed and will think you're some famous streamer, and the world will open up for you as you find yourself being offered VIP seating, and beautiful young ladies will pretend to recognize you.
