misleading thumbnail, sense of relief

The thumbnail of the video below might lead you to think that Vivek caved and has decided to run as Donald Trump's VP, but as you watch the video, all you see is that Trump promised that Vivek would be working with him "for a long time." While some might see a Trump-Vivek ticket as hard to beat, (1) Liberal Hivemind makes the point that it'd be two alpha dogs, which would be a recipe for disaster, and (2) Vivek swore up and down he wasn't running for second place, so if he were to do a 180 and suddenly run as VP, he'd lose a lot of trust from the American people. Liberal Hivemind plays a clip showing Vivek running down a series of conservative talking points—most of which I agree with, some of which I don't—and observes that Trump, standing slightly behind Vivek, seems to be mentally taking notes as to what talking points to use as the campaign continues. I think that's one thing Vivek could bring to Trump's campaign: focus, not aggressive flailing. To me, it comes as a relief that Vivek likely won't be VP. Let him run again in 2028.

I don't know what role Vivek would play in a Trump administration, but here's hoping it's a big one pace all the sourpuss Instapundit commenters who hate Vivek for what I think are cynical reasons (foreign-sounding name, skin color, religion, etc.).

  1. I was a big DeSantis fan before he committed presidential hopeful suicide by not waiting and deciding to run against Trump, but Vivek came out of nowhere (like Trump in 2016) and energized the vote among the younger voters who chose him 1st in their voting in Iowa. Hopefully, that bodes well in four years as younger voters won't hold his name and background against him as older ones are more likely to. I know he would get my vote as a non career politician at this point.
