what conservatives say about mail-in voting

I've said that, this year, I'm not voting. Why? Because so many conservatives say mail-in voting is the royal road to fraud, and even though my own vote wouldn't be fraudulent, it might be unscrupulously ignored or tallied for Harris or worse. So like in 2016, when I failed to take Donald Trump seriously, I won't be voting. It'll be up to my Stateside countrymen to vote legitimately. I did vote in 2020 (mail-in vote); Trump lost. So a superstitious part of me thinks Trump might actually win again this time because I'm not participating.

In case you think conservatives aren't serious about the mail-in-voting issue, look at this collection of (often repetitive) comments just from Instapundit:

Here is my counter to anyone who thinks there is nothing wrong with mail-in ballots. If you won the Powerball [a lottery], would you mail your ticket in or would you drive your fat ass to the lottery office and hand it in? The defense rests, your honor.

As of 2023, the Postal Service operates 33,641 Post Office and contract locations in the U.S., and delivered a total of 127.3 billion packages and pieces of mail to 164.9 million delivery points in fiscal year 2022. How is mail voting now a capacity issue except as an avenue for fraud in the counting?

Mail-in voting isn't an election: it's a survey. Don't call them election officials; call them survey officials. The privacy of the voting booth is the essential component of an election. It must be the ordinary, default location for voting.

The "potential problems" are the entire reason why it is legal in the US (and illegal in every other democracy). Mass mail-in voting, with zero ballot verification, enables the authorities to get whatever election result they desire. Africa and Latin America are laughing at how fake and rigged US elections have become.

Nonsense. We've been assured from the highest levels than mail-in ballots are safe... and legal. [/sarc]

The only voting method subject to even greater fraud than mail-in voting would be internet voting. It will come up as a “solution” to mail-in voting problems.

"Early voting" = "OK, the saps have sent in their ballots. How many do we need to print up to outvote them?"

I prefer not to call these issues "problems." Rather, they are "opportunities" for Democrats to cheat.

The PURPOSE of mail-in voting is fraud. Anyone who supports mail-in voting is an enemy of the Constitution.

Stop mail-in voting. Go back to same-day voting. The Democrats have proved that mail-in doesn't work. So stop doing it.

Mail-in voting is inherently fraudulent. The entire purpose of mail-in voting is to facilitate fraud. You do not pay any of your bills with cash via the mail because your cash would be stolen, and your bill would be unpaid. The same holds true for ballots. Likewise, collecting ballots in a box on the street corner is inherently fraudulent. Likewise, same-day registration is inherently fraudulent. Likewise, collecting votes on a machine connected to the internet is inherently fraudulent. You would not agree to equally insecure procedures in any other area of your life. You would never design a voting system this way for any election where you desired an accurate depiction of what the legitimate voters wanted. The 2020 election was fraudulent by design and by definition. There is no way that it could NOT be fraudulent. There is every reason to believe that 2024 will be worse.

I ask the simple question: would you want your banking to be done the same way we do elections? Would you want someone to walk up to a teller and ask for $1000 from your account without at least requiring an ID? Would you make a deposit by placing cash in an envelope and placing it in an unsecured container on a street corner? Elections should be every bit as secure as banking.

Europe does not allow mail-in voting due to the ease of fraud. [Is this true?—ed.] Democrats always want to follow Europe, but they don't want to imitate Europe in this one thing. What a coincidence.

NOBODY EVER thought that voting by mail was secure. Go ahead; put $500 in cash in an envelope and mail it to yourself. If you're at all hesitant to do that, then vote in person.

Voting by mail as the exclusive standard was approved by idiot voters in Oregon back in 1998—and look at how fucked up Oregon is today. Never use Oregon as a template for anything that isn't Marxist/fascist. Thus endeth the lesson.

I could go on, but you get the idea. So I didn't vote by mail this year because I didn't want to be a problem. Hopefully, my non-participation means Trump will win.

Read my old 2004 piece on voting. I rebut the "If you don't vote, you can't complain" canard.
