Mike had suggested that I visit the nearby John Lee Pratt Memorial Park (Pratt turns out to have been an industrialist) to do some straightforward bike-path walking, so I did that yesterday afternoon. The park has a main loop that's around a mile long, with lots of offshoot paths; I focused on the loop and did only two laps before I returned home to finish prep for last night's dinner. The sky had been threatening rain all morning; I got to the park around 2:30 p.m. after finishing my veggie prep for the gyros; I finished two laps at around 3:30 p.m. and went home to work on cooking the meat.

The loop isn't really loop-shaped. See the map here. |

lots of exercise stations along the loop's length |

I remember trying to lever myself up on parallel bars as a kid and severely pulling muscles in my sternum, resulting in me crying. That was seventh grade. Now, if I ever want to practice dipping movements, I need to find gentle alternatives or use specialized equipment. |

I should've done some of these exercises, but I just stared at the equipment before moving on. |

Do you trust ellipticals that don't have honest-to-God flywheels? |

This looks like the sort of old-people machine you'd see in Korea. |

All the equipment looks so new. |

Missing in Korea, where the logic is, No can = carry your trash out. Faulty logic. People litter instead. |

He looks only marginally recumbent to me. |

I had to look up soft toss. Sounds like vaguely vulgar British slang. |

Nearing the end of the loop. Basketball courts here. |

The second lap went faster since I didn't take pictures every 50 yards. A good if short walk, all in all. I'll have to come back here next time and try out the exercise stations.
Those red baskets with the chains are disc golf baskets--basically the disc golf equivalent of a hole on a green. The chains are there to catch the disc (frisbee) so it lands in the basket.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I've now looked up disc golf. That was as painful as looking up pickleball or watching goddamn park golf.
