and by extension

It's not just Elon Musk: a lot of righties are also showing love for Russell Brand, Bill Maher, and Joe Rogan. None of these people should be confused for a rightie. I mean, I can understand being happy that these talking heads agree, to some extent, with certain rightie bullet points, but what I can't understand is the unabashed love that some righties have for these jokers, not a single one of whom is on board with a conservative agenda. And I say that as someone who doesn't consider himself a full-on conservative.

Just be careful whom you invite into your camp. People like Musk, Brand, Maher, and Rogan may be useful for now, but times change. Look at Andrew Sullivan: he was a reliable conservative until he went woke, then, post-Trump, he started finding his old conservatism again. Too late, though, Mr. Sullivan: you've shown your true colors.

What I like about them is they appear to be thinking for themselves, not just regurgitating lefty talking points. I have no illusions about where they stand overall but refusing to be kowtowed into accepting things you know aren't true takes some courage these days. I'm most familiar with Maher, and I disagree with his takes 90% of the time. I respect that he will still stand up and say "that's stupid" when the left goes too far even for him.

To the extent that they're fighting wokeness, they're to be respected. I just don't like that some righties think this makes them into fellow righties.
