reading Andy Weir's Artemis

At least so far, Andy Weir's novel Artemis is an adventure that takes place on the moon of the near future. Artemis itself is the name of the moon's one huge city/colony, with a population of about two thousand. I'm only a couple chapters into the story and am noticing some of the similarities and differences between this novel and Weir's two other novels, The Martian (reviewed here and here) and Project Hail Mary (reviewed here). I was worried this might be another of Weir's "lone protagonist uses his wits to survive a situation" stories, but in Artemis, our protagonist, though clever and resourceful, is a Saudi-born girl with a low-paying day job, interesting connections with shady billionaires, and a side job as a smart, savvy petty criminal who knows how to navigate lunar society. So this isn't a story of loneliness and isolation like Weir's other novels—at least, not yet. The moon is a thriving place, and Jazz, the protag, has a bit of a reputation. At the point I am in the story, things haven't quite started to gel, but when I finish the novel, I'll be sure to write a review.
