Andre Braugher, TV and film actor famous for his quiet, serious presence—which even worked well in comedies—has died after "a brief illness" at age 61. Given that I'm 54, 61 seems relatively young to be kicking off, but plenty of famous people have died at around this age. There will, of course, be the usual speculation as to whether the jab did Braugher in; information as to his cause of death is currently thin on the ground.
I remember Braugher from early performances in "Glory" and "City of Angels." He also popped up in the series "House" as a psychiatrist trying to help Dr. House get out from under himself. Braugher was also the tragic captain in the 2006 remake of The Poseidon Adventure (originally a novel, then a 1972 film) simply titled "Poseidon." Unfortunately, I missed Braugher's comic turn in "Brooklyn Nine-Nine," a series I hope to binge someday.
Braugher was a talented, magnetic presence on screen, and I'm going to miss his acting. He's one of the few actors I genuinely liked, and it's sad to know he's gone.
Sad to hear, but at least he made it to 61. Lance Reddick did not.
ReplyDeleteI didn't recognize the name but went and found his photo and recalled seeing him in several shows. RIP.
