With thanks to Jason of Wandering to Tamshui-- a fascinating blog post about Taiwan, Ghost Month and an exploration of what drives people to see and believe in ghosts.
I don't know the Korean equivalent of Ghost Month (or whether there even is such a month here), but I remember that one of my moves occurred on so-called Moving Day, a particularly auspicious day when the evil spirits aren't wandering about, potentially cursing your move to another dwelling.
