come again??

From this article, re: the Norwegian mass-murderer:

Police have charged Breivik under Norway's terror law. He will be arraigned on Monday when a court decides whether police can continue to hold him as the investigation continues.

This is even a question?

What are the options, I wonder?

Perhaps between police detention and psychiatric detention? In the US, we seem to see police detention or military detention (Gitmo, I think).

This guy is in his own league but the stereotype is most criminals think they want psychiatric detention, then find out there is less oversight or clear policies for discharge. Breivik probably deserves Nurse Ratchett.

If you want to be really pissed off: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/43854355/ns/world_news-europe/?GT1=43001

This in particular from that page: "If convicted on the terrorism charges, he would face a maximum of 21 years in jail, police said."

Unbelievable is all I can even fathom to say.
