From April 7 to about yesterday, Dr. Horace Jeffery Hodges had been on a "poetry break," a sort of literary bender in which the good professor published, relentlessly and daily, a single one-line poem. Despite having done all he could to drive his readership away through his recondite sense of humor, Dr. Hodges was unable to dissuade me from visiting his blog. God help me, I read every single one of those damn poems, always in the hopes that, today, at long last, the torrent of literary cotton candy would end and substantive blogging would resume.
Well: today, the poetry was finally put to rest, and an actual blog post appeared, thank the old gods and the new. It's a red-letter day as Dr. Hodges crawls back out from under his rock and rejoins the human race. We can breathe a sigh of relief and look forward, once again, to posts on Islam, free speech, and the Ozarks.
