24.5K, 5 hours, 4.9 kph

I took almost exactly 5 hours to do 24.5 kilometers' walking, putting me at a speed of exactly 4.9 kph. Today, it rained in the morning, so I departed around 1:30 p.m. to do the walk. Except for a few rare glimpses of the sun, the day was cloudy. Temps were close to 50ºF (10ºC) at times, but sank below that, especially whenever the clouds dominated. I was fine without a coat, but tomorrow, I'll be going out at 5:30 a.m. to do the same route, and the forecast says it's going to be freezing for much of the morning, which means I'll need to bundle up. Day One of this project left me tired (I was supposed to do the stairs when I got back, but I honestly have no motivation right now); we'll see how things progress over the coming weeks.

637K is the goal. I did 24.5K today. 612.5K to go.

  1. And so it begins. For me, the hardest part of your quest would be doing the same route day after day. Well, the 25K would be hard too, of course, but the repetition would make it difficult to be distracted by observing new surroundings. I realize options are limited though. On my solo walk days, I have four or five standard walks that I can mix up a little for some variety. Still, once you've done them numerous times there's not much new to see.

Anyway, good luck and stay motivated. You got this!
