Went to Salady today for my first-ever Salady lunch. Ordered a Caesar salad, a Tandanji salad (I'll explain below), and a so-called Mexican wrap. It was all edible; not spectacular, but I'll keep going back to explore the rest of their limited menu.
How everything looked before I opened it:
The remains of Caesar, post Ides of March:
The Caesar wasn't very Caesar-y. Even the dressing, labeled "Caesar," was only just "meh." The thing came with dried cranberries, which I never see with Caesar, and no croutons, which are a Caesar trademark. It was just a generic, leafy salad. But taken on those terms, it was perfectly edible. I sense, though, that false advertising is going to be a theme.
Below—the Tandanji salad. Near as I can figure, Tandanji is from the Korean words for carbohydrates (tansu-hwamul), protein (danbaekjil), and fat (jibang)—the three macronutrients. So this is essentially an "a little of everything" salad. And it didn't look much different from the Caesar except for the scoop of potato salad in the corner (the aforementioned carbs, I presume).
Lastly, the "Mexican" wrap:
There was something faux-Mexican going on with the wrap, which tasted fairly generically "Mexican" in the loosely American, Tex-Mex sense (if you're eating Mexican in, say, Illinois, not Texas). Again, not mind-blowing, but everything was tolerable enough that I'll return to try out the rest of the menu. I'd still rather have Subway back, though.
Is that a smoothie your drinking with lunch?
ReplyDeleteThat's a lot of salad for just one meal, plus a wrap! I think I could follow this diet plan.
Only meal of the day.
ReplyDeleteYeah, that's a Slimfast smoothie.
