Matt Walsh takes on Stephen King

I respect Stephen King as a talented crafter of stories, but politically, the man is a Trump Derangement-addled, woke idiot who really needs to stop sharing his stunted, obtuse opinions about society, government, and all the rest. In the video below, Matt Walsh rebuts some of King's sillier points regarding the failure of "The Marvels," another embarrassingly woke turd squeezed out by Disney-Marvel.

What's funny to me is that King has written stories that seem rather conservative in tenor. Specifically, I remember his "The End of the Whole Mess," about the hubris of a genius intellect named Bobby Fornoy who thinks he has found a chemical cure for human violence. Bobby develops a concentrated serum and distributes it globally by dumping tons of it into an active volcano; the volcano belches out the vapor, and air currents do the rest; for a time, the world is blissfully pacified. But it turns out the serum has a pernicious side effect: everyone who comes in contact with it eventually develops progressive dementia and dies. Bobby has effectively doomed humanity. The story has themes that conservatives can nod their heads at: never trust top-down solutions to social problems is a big one here. Never put your trust in intellectuals intent on social engineering is another. The story appeared in 1986; would the current Stephen King even think to write such a story now?

  1. Stephen King has always been one of my favorite writers. Back when I had a personal library, hard-copy editions of almost all his books lined my shelves. I try very hard to not let the personal political viewpoints of an artist (I'm also a Neil Young fan) affect my appreciation of their creative works. It's hard to do sometimes when the stupidity and hypocrisy of those views is on public display (King is a frequent poster on Twitter).
