I didn't watch the Golden Globes, but...

From what I hear, the Golden Globes were a mess this year. Ricky Gervais wasn't there as host to gin up humorous controversy; instead, an unknown comedian named Jo Koy mucked his way through a very unfunny night, even blaming his scriptwriters when he failed to generate laughs. This is all part and parcel with Hollywood's slow, ponderous descent into irrelevance. The public now sees these awards shows for what they are: a huge, self-congratulatory circle jerk. Below, Ryan Kinel gives his take on this, one of the most ghastly of galas:
