South Korean Commits Suicide Over Hwang Scientist Case

This needs to be put in perspective: most Koreans aren't Kool-Aid drinkers. But the nuts do make the news.

According to Yonhap news agency, the dead man was a member of an online chat cafe, "I love Hwang Woo-suk", but had not actively participated in outdoor protests to support him.

He left a memo in an Internet chatroom just before killing himself to call for a gathering in Seoul on Saturday in support of the disgraced researcher, the news agency said.

Before Americans start guffawing, it would be wise to remember the furor at Paramount Studios when loyal Trekkies learned that the character of Spock was to be killed off in "Star Trek 2."

Weirdies, weirdies, everywhere, and not a brain to eat.
