is Xi Jinping turning into a paranoid Stalin?

Below, Chris Chappell argues that the signs are all there: Chinese leader Xi Jinping has become increasingly fearful for his own life. Is this paranoia, though? As the saying goes, you're not paranoid if they're really out to get you, and Xi has already experienced coup attempts. Perhaps this his explains his recent absence from the G20 summit.

What's funny is that, as deplorable as the Chinese situation might seem, I often find myself wishing that US Democrat leaders lived in greater fear for their own lives, that they actually feared the wrath of the people. The left loves to pretend the right is more violent, but if that were true, the left wouldn't be so brazen in its accusations, nor would it be as violent as it is in reality (Summer of Love, etc.—far more violent than the right).

Anyway, we can always hope that Xi gets taken down, but is there any guarantee that his successor will be any better?
