This is a topic that's near and dear to my heart: education. In the video below, JJ McCullough goes over the eternal battle between the "teach basic facts" crowd (which includes the Great Books Curriculum folks) and the "teach 'em how to think" crowd. Nowhere does he discuss Bloom's Taxonomy of Cognition, which stitches these two camps together into one paradigm.
Reminder: I have strong opinions on the topic and have written a book about the basic principles of good teaching. (I recommend buying the Kindle ebook version. Amazon's print-on-demand sucks; I've bought some hard copies, and the pages keep falling out. Or email me and buy a domestically printed hard copy of much nicer quality directly from me.)
