shitty weekend

This past Friday morning, I was fine. I got up early, did my 1.25 staircases, then went out and saw "Dune, Part 2." By Friday evening, though, I could feel the beginnings of a sore throat, and by Saturday, I was down for the count with a raging sore throat, fever, stuffy/runny nose, and overall ache/weakness. I'm pretty sure this wasn't COVID, though, because it's now Monday, and I'm doing a lot better. But over the weekend, I was in bed and so weak that I didn't bother with weekend rituals like doing laundry. The only big things I did were to write my review of "Dune, Part 2" and put up one long post. Today, I have no fever, and my sore throat is under control. My nose is still stuffy/runny, and I can't smell or taste anything, which is par for the course with this kind of sickness. I'm thinking I'll be much better by the end of this week, when I can do all the things I had hoped to do this past weekend.

Disturbingly, my heart is back to being fluttery, and I was out of breath climbing only two flights of stairs to my office. My shoulders are weak and achy, too, making it hard for me to raise my arms. So as for staircase training this week, I plan to take it easy, not going beyond a half-staircase on any given day. This seems to be an Easy Does It kind of week.

Back to normal soon.

  1. Yikes, a "fluttery heart" sounds scary and not really related to those other symptoms. That's something you may want to have checked. Hope you are feeling better soon!

  2. Agree with John. Having your heart flutter and being out of breath could be atrial fibrillation or something similar (unstable angina)? Definitely want to get it checked it ASAP. Both conditions are easy enough to treat with appropriate meds. Better safe than sorry. Need to see Dune 2 at the Yongsan IMAX (apparently the biggest in the country), so will put off reading your review to avoid the spoilers! Spring is in the air and we should be seeing some flowers bloom in about two weeks!
