can Biden be replaced? two commenters opine

Seen at Instapundit, two comments:

1. Remember, thanks to that "Virtual Convention" the Democrat party ginned up to qualify for the Ohio ballot, Joe Biden is already their nominee. The only way he can be removed is if he does so himself. Of course, this fact depends on the Democrats' following their own rules, so it's moot.

2. He [Biden] is the nominee. The delegates to the convention are obligated by rule to vote for him on the first vote. The only way he isn't the nominee is if, after that vote, he declined the nomination. Everyone thinks Democrats can just change the rules at will. It is not that simple. Joe Biden will have to agree to decline the nomination. They cannot deny him the nomination over his objection.

If he declined the nomination, his replacement likely wouldn't appear on the Ohio ballot. That cake seems to be baked. The Democrats are almost certain to lose Ohio anyway. So, I don't think that fact would make any difference should Biden step aside, which I don't think he will.

I don't think he will, either.
