Joe Biden, in an interview with "60 Minutes," declared the pandemic to be over although, he says, there are still problems with COVID. While it's nice to finally see official recognition of something the rest of us have known for years, it's sad that people all over the world had to suffer from the fearful and clumsy overreactions of politicians everywhere.
Of course, knowing Biden, I'm sure he'll say, in a subsequent interview, that he "never said" the pandemic was over.
In the meantime, I have to wonder whether Biden's declaration will prompt American blue states to let go of their death grip on their citizens and on businesses. It'd be nice to have an actual economy again.
And the timing for such a declaration seems a bit suspect, wouldn't you say? Midterm elections are right around the corner.
