Adam Olinger also really hates "Avatar: The Way of Water"

I'm beginning to see two schools of thought emerge about "Avatar: The Way of Water." These two schools mirror the pre-hypnosis and post-hypnosis schools of thought about the first movie. You may recall that everyone was so hypnotized by the first film (which is the highest-grossing film of all time) that they ignored the crappy story and focused purely on the enchanting visuals. Eventually, though, as the hypnosis wore off, you had people on the left critiquing the story's hackneyed white-savior narrative and people on the right rolling their eyes at the movie's PC environmentalism (and the irony of using advanced technology to tell an anti-technological story). Well, it seems that, this time around, people aren't so easily fooled because the doubters are among the first wave of critics. Unseduced by the visuals of the new movie, they are concentrating on the story and saying that you, the viewer, will not be getting very much bang for the buck. Below is an Adam Olinger video that makes some of the same points made by Mark Kermode in that other video I showed: the new movie is slow and boring—all flash and no substance. I'm beginning to lean toward not seeing this film. Life is short and only getting shorter, so why waste my time?
